Student Events
Welcome Party
This is held at the beginning of the semester and it is a chance for students to get to know each other in the first week and mix with students from other colleges.
Halloween Ball
At this time of year the Students have settled into their studies and are ready to get dressed up and dance the night away at the Halloween Ball. This year Students pulled out all the stops to dress up and the atmosphere in the cobweb filled 'NV' nightclub was second to none!
Christmas Ball
The Christmas Ball is the last chance for Students to mingle with each other before the Christmas holidays! The Christmas Ball is generally one of the largest attended events in the year, where some Students dress up as elves, Santa’s helpers, and of course the main man, Santa Clause!
The Annual Ball
Possibly the most important event of the year, The Annual Formal Ball gives Students and Staff the chance to put on their finest formal attire and enjoy a four course meal, live entertainment, and Dj until the early hours of the morning. Tickets are highly sought after and those who get them are never disappointed!
RAG Week
As it gets later in the year all eyes are on the coming summer exams, however RAG week is just early enough for the Students to have one last week of fun before they get stuck into the books! Similar to Fresher’s week RAG week is another week of events for students to enjoy before the end of year exams and summer holidays. Last year saw some wild events such as the Gumball Rally (where Students race to complete wacky tasks around Dublin city), followed by pub games and live DJ. The week was finished off with a Mardi Gras themed RAG Ball, which was organised this year by the 2nd Year Marketing & Event Management Students!
Final Party
EBS Dublin at DBS reserve a great venue directly after the final examinations so students can celebrate and bid farewell to all those who they met during the year!
Field Trips
The Dublin City Tour
Students are provided with a Dublin welcome tour to
familiarise themselves with the city. The Dublin bus tour is held for
all students during the first week of class.
EBS Weekend trip to Galway & The Cliffs of Moher
In March 2010 we introduced the weekend trip
to Galway with immense success! The students thoroughly enjoyed
their time there. This is a fantastic opportunity to visit the west of
Ireland for little cost to the student as the college subsidises the
tour which means students only pay for accommodation in Galway.
Typical Itinerary for Weekend Trip to Galway Friday
Morning: Depart Dublin City Centre
Friday
Afternoon: Arrive at
Clonmacnoise, an early Christian site founded by Saint Ciaran in the 6th
century on the banks of the River Shannon. The site includes the ruins
of a cathedral, eight churches (10th-13th century), two round towers,
three high crosses and a large collection of early Christian grave
slabs. The original high crosses and grave slabs are on display in the
Visitor Centre. There is an audio-visual tour as well as a number of
exhibitions.
Saturday: Inis Mor (Aran Islands) - For your excursion to Inis
Mor, the largest of the islands, your journey begins with your departure
from Rossaveal, crossing to the island by ferry. Inis Mor is a vast
open-air museum, rich in archaeological and monastic sites. Civilization
has existed here for over 4,000 years and the landscape is dotted with
the remains of settlements, chapels and forts, the best example being
Dún Aongus. You are met at the harbour by minibuses; this will include a
visit to Dun Aongus. Perched spectacularly on a cliff overlooking the
Atlantic Ocean, this is the largest of the prehistoric stone forts of
the Aran Islands.

of Moher and then returning to Dublin on Sunday afternoon.
Day Trip to Glendalough & Bray
This
is a free event and students will travel to the stunning valley of
Glendalough. The Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains
National Park that is also the site of the world famous Monastic Site
with Round Tower. Students can learn about Irish history by watching an
audiovisual film about the area and then join a tour of the monastic
settlements. Upon return students will be able to visit the seaside
village of Bray.
Wine Tasting
Students visit a city centre location
where they learn about world wines and the wine industry and how it
works. Students get to share some food and are then tested in their
knowledge of wines at the end. The evening includes competitions,
prizes, food & games at a great location!
Causey Farm
Tourism students are
brought to Causey Farm to experience the running of an Irish Farm and
enjoy the tourist experience offered by the farm. This includes Ceili
dancing a trip to the bog and baking some of your own brown bread. This
is an aspect of the tourism course and the family that own the farm then
speak with the students about their business & marketing
strategies.
Sports and Societies
EBS Dublin students have their own soccer team, for which training and matches are organised weekly. Those interested in squash and tennis can avail of weekly mini tournaments. Along with providing these sports, EBS staff also assist students in pursuing personal hobbies while in Dublin (including Scouting, Swimming, Golf, Gym, Weights, Rugby & Basketball). Additional Services are also provided to students who wish to explore Ireland independently, either on weekend excursions outside of Dublin, or for week long trips during the midterm break.
